dr. S.C. Ponten

Mijn studie geneeskunde heb ik gevolgd aan de Rijksuniversiteit Utrecht, waar ik in 2003 mijn artsenbul gehaald heb. Na een jaar arts-assistent neurologie geweest te zijn in het Antonius ziekenhuis in Nieuwegein ben ik overgestapt naar het VU medisch Centrum te Amsterdam. Daar heb ik mijn opleiding tot neuroloog gecombineerd met mijn promotieonderzoek op de afdeling klinische neurofysiologie onder leiding van prof dr. C.J. Stam. Mijn proefschrift getiteld ‘Epilepsy from a complex brain networks perspective’ bevat zowel theoretisch onderzoek naar de invloed van epilepsie op complexe hersennetwerken, als een meer praktisch deel waarbij ik EEG-monitoring op de Intensive Care heb geïmplementeerd. In mei 2009 heb ik mijn opleiding tot neuroloog afgerond. Sinds 2009 ben ik werkzaam als neuroloog in het Alrijne ziekenhuis. Mijn specifieke aandachtsgebied is klinische neurofysiologie en daarnaast is mijn interesse gewekt voor patiënten met slaapstoornissen. Samen met de afdelingen longziekten en KNO wordt hard gewerkt om het slaapcentrum in het Alrijne ziekenhuis verder te professionaliseren.
